Author:
T. P. Bragg. Oak is a fast-paced provocative and thought-provoking
‘sequel’ to The English Dragon – (set in
2009 its narrative works separately and can be read independently).
The book finds our hero Ben travelling through Europe to get back to England
against a backdrop of escalating tension and the continuance
of the 'American Wars'. His father, Oliver, has fallen foul
of the Public Order Act for his writings – known as
The Fables. At the end of the book readers can analyse these
fables for themselves – and decide between their censorship
or freedom of expression.
Oak is both a love story and a political thriller –
perhaps too a warning from the future.Since publication many
of Oak's warnings have become reality - readers might well
be surprised by this and also shocked to think other of its
predictions could come true. But Oak isn't downbeat - there
is a message of hope unsuppressed by an unfolding Big Brother
future.
