28th 2006 -
Contrary to the widespread praise that
was heaped on our beloved leader following his barnstorming
speech at the Labour Party Conference, we just don't get
it.
Fine words full of confidence and emotion. This time Blair
actually outdid himself with the most accomplished bit of
ham acting I have ever seen. Complete with perfectly timed
pause for effect and interspersed with added emotional voice
quiver it left the crowd in rapture and demanding more.
Me, I just reached for the sick bucket.
How many times over the past 12 years have the Labour Party
heard him recite exactly the same lines and yet again they
lapped up every minute of it and fell for the same old routine.
They are obviously intelligent people but this man comes
along with yet another speech about justice and opportunity
for all, a brighter, better future for everyone, his voice
rising to a triumphant crescendo and everyone seems to forget
that he has been in office for nigh on 10 years. They forget
the slaughter in Iraq and the lies that took us there and
they forget that we live in a country where the politicians
fall over themselves to be seen as being ethnic friendly
while there are working class English people who feel utterly,
utterly abandoned.
Those silly people, wiping tears away from their eyes were
cheering a man who could speak all day without actually
telling us anything. How can they not see it? Is it not
all wearing a bit thin? Have we not had enough of politicians
barrister-speak, these stupid men in suits who have an answer
for everything and a solution to nothing?
Watching the Labour Party Conference gave me a stark reminder
that Adolf Hitler got voted into power. It goes to show
that you can be a fine speaker, you can hold the audience
in the palm of your hand, but in the end it means absolutely
nothing....TC
